The Heritage Trench

The history of our Cropped Trench is a legacy spanning fashion and function.
Evolving from a uniform created during World War I, the unpretentious trench coat has a rich history in menswear. Its roots are purely practical—adopting a waterproof quality and protective demeanor designed to defend against inadequate conditions. Each detail of its dynamic design has a carefully considered history, proving that essentials with a story are all the more lasting.
“Beautifully crafted in Italy from substantial Italian cotton, it's more than just an investment in your wardrobe, it pays homage to a story that spans centuries and continents.”
In the Details

Traditional trench coat elements converge on our elevated interpretation, like gun flaps, a storm shield and accentuated lapels. Originating with purpose, gun flaps were devised to keep weapons dry when held at the chest, while the storm shield at the upper back created an additional layer to ensure water didn’t saturate the surface. It wasn’t until Greta Garbo wore the masculine military piece on the set of A Woman of Affairs in 1928 that it became relevant in womenswear. From there, it slowly evolved through the ranks of Marlene Dietrich and Audrey Hepburn into the envy of every stylish woman. An expression of heritage but with modern meaning, this key piece adopts a lighter fashion-forward attitude and a style status that endures.
Fashion Focus

In its many iterations, the trench coat has evolved into an essential in the closet of men and women alike. Our version adopts a feminine aesthetic, accentuating its heritage details to create a fluid silhouette that gives the illusion of layering. This seasonless piece will pull together a sophisticated look at the office but will also work just as well on the weekends. Beautifully crafted in Italy from substantial Italian cotton, our cropped trench is more than just an investment in your wardrobe, it pays homage to a story that spans centuries and continents.
