Our Sustainability Efforts

Our Commitment

A Step Forward

Fewer, better is the foundational philosophy that leads all aspects of our brand. With a strong belief in conscious consumption, sustainability is deeply ingrained in our business practice. We encourage our customers to purchase fewer, but better quality pieces that they will love and treasure for years to come. With each item, we carefully consider our design, material and production process for a greater impact on your wardrobe and a smaller impact on the environment.

With a strong belief in conscious consumption, sustainability is deeply ingrained in our business practice.

To ensure our products do not end up in landfills, each piece is crafted in small batches by skilled global artisans from the highest-quality materials to withstand the test of time. Extending efforts beyond our brand, we established the Lean Closet program to help our customers recycle the pieces they no longer need—bringing new life to beloved styles and enriching the lives of women with philanthropic partners like H.E.A.R.T.

Our tannery partner, who produces 90% of our Italian leathers, is Gold Medal-certified by the Leather Working Group, the most prominent organization in the industry promoting and assessing sustainable practices of manufacturers. We further minimize our carbon footprint by manufacturing our pieces in the same place or in close proximity to their material sources.

Presently, 80% of our assortment is made from 100% natural materials and the introduction of recycled cashmere to our collection of eco-minded materials is an exciting step forward for us. With each new season, we add more natural and sustainable materials to our assortment.

This month, we are excited to introduce recycled cashmere in three new styles. Partnering with an Italian mill nestled in the hills of Bologna, we craft these sweaters from a blend of 95% recycled cashmere and 5% virgin wool—a significantly higher composition than industry standards. Our upcycling method spins existing cashmere yarns into elegant sweaters using no extra dyes and eliminating excess usage of water and energy.

This Italian filatura has devoted itself to improving the environment with more sustainable practices. They are accredited with the Global Recycle Standard certification and have pledged to eliminate all harmful substances in their production by 2020 via the Detox Solution Agreement established by Greenpeace.

For us, sustainability is an evolution that we are fully committed to. Like many businesses, we are not perfect, but we constantly strive to improve ourselves for a greener, better future.
