The Art of a Lean Closet

The Art of a Lean Closet

A lean closet is always relevant and requires continual attention. Coming off a busy holiday season where the philosophy of more-is-more guides our culture, start the year with simplification and ease top of mind.
Shift your focus to your closet as a starting point to thoughtfully simplify everything around you, donating what you no longer love with the purpose of helping those in need.

We believe that the act of editing, removing the clutter, and building a foundation for the year ahead will make space and time for the things that are meaningful, not just in your closet, but in all areas of our life. The Lean Closet movement was created as a means to inspire you to look at everything in your wardrobe, and even your life, holistically and identify those things that no longer have purpose. Once you’re able to identify the pieces that are no longer useful, provide them a new lease of life in the hands of someone in need.

Define

Define

The first step to deciding what to donate is to define your own personal style. The essence of fewer, better is to build a capsule closet of iconic pieces that never goes out of style. The pieces you keep should feel authentic to you, and be able to translate into your own distinctive expression of style. Our collection of quietly captivating pieces was created with you, and your unique styling, top of mind. The perfect tee, a crisp cotton shirt, a tailored wool coat—these are the pieces that can be worn with individuality. They will last and transition as trends change and time passes.

Your closet should feel fresh, functional and reflect who you are. If you haven’t worn certain pieces for over a year and they no longer look like you, it is time to reconsider their place in your life. Donate these pieces and throw away anything that cannot be recycled and put in the hands of a new owner. To donate these pieces with intention, simply add the Lean Closet card in your cart at checkout, and we’ll send a reusable bag with your order to send your donations back to us. You can also bring your things in store, and we’ll provide a $10 credit to be put towards your order on that day.

A Cause Close To The Heart

Each article of clothing you donate to Lean Closet will go to victims of domestic abuse through H.E.A.R.T. (Helping Ease Abuse Related Trauma) to empower women to build new lives with a fresh start. This holiday season, it was our mission to approach a season of consumption as a time to give back. On Thanksgiving weekend, we went one-for-one. For each piece purchased on Black Friday, we donated one of the essentials in our collection to H.E.A.R.T. As a result, an incredibly powerful donation of clothing was made and distributed to women who are working to start anew. We want to take this in stride and continue on with the intention of giving back in the new year. Join us.
To join the movement, select the Lean Closet card in your shopping bag, and we’ll send you bag and return label to donate the things that are no longer of use to you.
