With every Cuyana purchase where you select "lean shipping" at checkout, we will send you a reusable bag to fill up with items that aren't helping you live your most beautiful life. You mail the bag back to us (with the included shipping label) and through our non-profit partner, H.E.A.R.T., your donated clothing will be given directly to women who will be able to gain fresh starts through your generosity. As an added bonus, for every donation you make, you will receive a $10 credit towards your next Cuyana purchase. It's about doing more with less in our closets — and doing more for others who are in need.

Our Vision

We started Cuyana because we believe fashion can be different. We think it can be more fulfilling and more soulful.


Co-founder Karla Gallardo started Cuyana with the vision of creating a global lifestyle brand that promotes intentional buying, offers premium quality at accessible prices, and empowers local craftsmanship from around the world. Karla earned her MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and her Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Brown University. She previously worked at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking Group and at the Apple Online Store as a Business and Strategy Analyst. Karla grew up in Ecuador and is a lifetime lover of fashion and giving back through empowering artists around the globe.

Shilpa Shah

Co-founder Shilpa Shah was drawn to Cuyana because of the opportunity to create products with rich stories while also building a fashion brand with a central mission of social change. She's always enjoyed cultivating her personal style but found fast fashion unfulfilling. She often wondered why people couldn’t shop like her relatives in India – purposefully procuring treasures that would be passed down from generation to generation. Shilpa began her career in Interaction Design, creating meaningful online experiences at Disney and Punchcut, and then went on to receive her MBA from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
